Kumasi based musical ensemble: S.I.N DISTRICT pre-inform us of their takeover in their newly released debut EP and truly we're taking a bow. Titled "MISFITS 001: THE BEGINNING", This incredible collective just sent a warning shot to the industry with their unique style and smooth flow. The EP, is a 3-pack deadly collection of outstanding music as we hear them explore their ranges in different genres.
Track 1 - KONAMI
In the opening act, "KONAMI," the group draws inspiration from the renowned video game company, Konami. It's evident that these musicians are not here to play games, despite the metaphor. The trap-infused record carries a subtle yet firm message, asserting that life may resemble a game, but they are not in the business of playing, let alone losing. Bumping to this trap record, listeners are infused with a daring and commanding uplifting charge that, regardless of the heat, DO NOT FOLD. The District didn't cower as they patiently delivered on this eccentric melody. The catchy hook further topped up on the theme of the song, charging us to not fold regardless of the obstacle. They warn us that they're misfits, not here to fit in, but to change the game. Their number 001 message is to know they're in a season to deliver. Not that they need our permission, but the gang makes us know that, ready or not, with or without us, they are bringing the heat unfettered and unfazed.
Track 2 - JIGGY
This song is so smooth, groovy at best. Did you hear the ‘La Verdolaga’ sample and the way they massacred the jam? The enticing background vocals just give you the chills. Once again, they delivered eccentric afro bars, making you wonder, like, who are these people again? Oh, the harmony in their voices just makes it illegal for them to sound this good. The chorus has become a chant on our lips, and we get ‘Jiggy-Jiggy’ with this jam for real. Honestly, we can't deny the fact that these guys are sensational and they deserve the accolades coming to them.
Before we conclude, let's take a minute to appreciate the crew. The individuals who make up the S.I.N DISTRICT collective are amazing musical geniuses. Comprising Boi Mack, CHOCOBOYLIVE, Spoonz, Rex THEWAV & Kojo Moore, this stupefying alliance showcases groundbreaking flows that demand our attention.
Track 3 - RUN UP
The last song on the EP, “Run Up” is a pure ghetto love song. Nothing tops the feel of a girl embracing that gangster persona of their lover. On this track, our guys appreciate lovers who prioritize you and make you feel heard and loved. Safe to say our boys are a wonderful set of people who are in tune with their emotions and truly recognize the need for love and to be loved.
