Dreams on Hold
“Hallowed!
Your self-control is strength
Boy, don't lose shape, never bend
Don't bother, soon it go make sense
So rest, How the fuck do I rest?
When life putting me into a test”
Fire in the eyes of Kwame Dabie as he preaches about unrest and the quest to do more in the intro of this EP. While delivering an ecstatic spiel on the hook for the record, the artist asks “meyɛ dɛn ada” which translates as “how can I sleep”? A major question pursed on the lips of trappers to assess their intended realism. Taking a cue from his alter ego “Hyena” a grim and fierce persona, he paints an introspective appeal to audiences with a tough sense of grittiness & unrelenting desire towards carving a satisfying narrative. Kwame Dabie fully embraces his persona, always on the move and ever ready to make a difference.
Bora Bora w/ Mennel
Whew! the phenomenal wordplay on the chorus is an incredible assertion of the artistic prowess of the two geniuses. Recruiting Mennel on this joint, the pair delivered an intriguing musical performance with their ingenious wordplay and witty bars. The GVO associates, tapped the beat with a poetic tone and left us with high praise for their lyrical performance. Mennel's clever bars can't go unnoticed on this record; the rapper understood the assignment and perfectly graced the entirety of the song. As always, Dabie propelled his talents and blessed listeners with thrilling lyricism.
Fly w/ Big Jay
Kwame Dabie & Big Jay in “Fly” presented a joyful feeling and high optimism about the future. The song breathes life into the listener and pushes a courageous declaration about not being fazed about anything because the intent is to fly to the highest pinnacle. The catchy chorus on the guitar strings uplifts the audience and gives room to believe in inner strength to overcome whatever circumstance that might act as an adversary or in modern-day terms, opps. Dabie's moniker "Bomaye," which translates as "kill him," echoed throughout the theme of the song, enlightening a wild expression of his mentality to overcome every challenge. Big Jay also brought an undeniable top-off feel to the jam, further commending his contribution.
Dabdigiddy
We can’t deny Dabie’s absolutely perfect bridges and hooks! The melodic rhymes just further prove his ability to curate feels and attach them to his craft. Dabie truly has the juice and makes us feel alive with his sassy wordplay and slick bars.
